Anyone here actually done bottle returns in the Citrus Heights area?
I have been stacking up bottles and cans at home for a while and never actually taken them anywhere. Before I load up the car I would rather ask around. How do you usually check that a recycling place is legit and pays what it says? Anything worth looking at first?

I looked into this recently since I had the same pile sitting in the garage. First thing I checked was whether the place was clear about which containers actually qualify. In California the CRV deposit applies to eligible beverage containers, so aluminum, plastic, and glass are usually fine, but the refund depends on size, material, weight, and the posted rates that day. Ivan's in Citrus Heights was one of the options I ended up looking at, mostly because the drop off process was described clearly and they list a small extra per pound on aluminum on Tuesdays. Not a huge difference, but it is at least stated openly instead of being vague. My general take is to keep labels visible, sort before you go, and not assume any posted rate is permanent. Worth checking current numbers before you drive out.
